Plumbing Rough & Framing

The HVAC work should finish and the plumbing work begins today. They are cutting out lots of the concrete floor to make way for the waste pump and plumbing drain lines. Steve also drilled the floor where we plan to put the beam and discovered that the slab/footing is over 9" thick there. This means there is no need for a new footing to be installed, so the beam work is ready to go ahead next week.
The plumbers also cut in a trench in the floor between the equipment room and the location of the raised platform. We plan to run power and conduit through this trench so we can have lighting and connectivity on the platform.

The HVAC work is almost done. Nearly the entire basement ceiling is obscured with ducts now. This job turned out to be much bigger than expected. In addition, the exhaust fan for the equipment room and projector box turned out to be a lot of trouble. We are putting two thermostats in the equipment room, one with a remote probe in the projector box. Either thermostat activates the exhaust fan to help get rid of the heat and vent it outside.
I'm also thinking about adding the capability to install an LCD projector at the back of the room sometime in the future. If the LCD, DLP, or similar projectors eventually become better suited to a theater than a CRT projector, it would be nice to have the option. Also, it might be fun to have an LCD projector in addition to the CRT projector for computer or video game use. To do this I would need to run power, RGB and control cables, and an exhaust fan duct to that location. It seems worth doing.
Some of the framing is up now as well. The theater and bathroom are almost completely framed, so the space is beginning to take shape.
