Projector Installed
Feb 26, 2002

After all this time, I finally get my XG-1100 installed in the theater and working. The brackets work fine, and I bought a set of brand new tubes. Steve stopped by and helped me hang the beast, then Darren Alcorn (another AVS Forum member) came over and set it up. So now it works, and the picture is excellent. The XG fits into the box like it was made for it (it was) with about 3 inches of clearance all around. You can hardly hear it when the box is closed, and the temperature sensor in the box reported a max of 85 degrees.
By the way, I have one and maybe two more XG-1100s with about 5800 hours on them, but with with brand new tubes, for sale... I also have my GP-3000 (GE Imager 410) for sale...
Looking back I can scarcely believe this project began over a year and four months ago. But since it will probably never be finished as I tweak things, I guess that's par for the course.
One more recent development is that I have completely given up on the HTPC. I fight Windoze every day at work, so I'm not going to fight with it in the theater anymore. I'm just tired of dealing with lousy software. So... I'm going to go out and buy a Key Digital Leeza tomorrow.
